Financial Services
Your financial health is integral to almost everything you wish to do, now and in the future. At turpin barker armstrong we have long recognised that few things are as valuable to our clients as good financial advice, so in 2001 we formed “Optima Financial” as a specialist division to service their needs.
Optima Financial is a team of dedicated Independent Financial Advisors (IFA’s), serving a wide range of personal and business clients. Separately regulated by the Financial Services Authority the business is well established and proud of it’s high service standards befitting a professional accountancy practice. Unlike many IFA businesses and high street banks, we are service orientated not sales driven, and our clients can be confident that we will treat them fairly by putting their needs first.
We offer advice in all of the following areas:
- Savings & Investments
- Pensions and Retirement Planning
- Mortgages and Equity Release
- Protection Policies
- Financial Review

Financial Services
As part of your financial planning it is important that you review your situation at least once a year.
- Mortgage
For many of us our mortgage is the single largest financial transaction that we make. The flexibility of modern mortgages means that, with the right advice, a refinanced home loan could benefit you immediately. - Protection
Whether or not you are a homeowner, an element of Protection should be considered to protect you and your family should you die or be unable to work due to sickness or an accident. The cost of providing this cover has reduced significantly over recent years and should be included within your annual review. - Pension
The advent of Stakeholder Pensions forced insurance companies to dramatically reduce the costs in setting up and maintaining a pension scheme. Any policy affected more than four years ago may benefit from restructuring to reduce cost, potentially increasing returns. Many people have more than one existing pension scheme, often from past employments. Amalgamating the funds requires expert advice but could save annual management fees thus enhancing benefits at no extra cost. - Savings & Investments
Should be looked at each year to re-evaluate your short and long term goals. Are you making use of your personal tax allowances, particularly your tax free annual exemption for capital gains tax (currently £10,100)? Is your portfolio being actively managed to take advantage of market upturns and protect you from downturns? Market factors influencing your choice of investment are constantly changing, is your portfolio changing with them?
Our four step approach to your financial review
- Your current position: Together we will conduct a financial review to enable us to acquire an understanding of your personal circumstances, goals, financial objectives and attitude to risk. Our initial meeting is free of charge.
- Needs and objectives: At this stage we will analyse your needs in depth and agree the ongoing service levels you require.
- Research and recommendation: Having evaluated your current position and indentified your requirements we will prepare a personal investment plan, summarising our recommendations in writing.
- The Way Forward: After agreeing our recommendation with you, we will implement your plan and meet with you regularly to monitor progress and take account of your changing circumstances.
