Self-employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) — Further Update

Published: 13/05/2020 By Dean Clark

Further to our recent blog dated 5th May 2020, please be advised that as from today, self employed individuals may apply for a Government Grant under the SEISS, subject to eligibility.

To determine whether you may be eligible to claim a grant under the SEISS is a relatively simple process, and to assist you in this matter we thought it would be useful to share (below), a link to HMRC’s SEISS eligibility checker. You will need your 10 digit unique tax reference number (UTR), and National Insurance number.

Assuming you are eligible, the maximum payment will be capped at £7,500, and is intended to cover the months of March, April and May 2020. During the application process, the Government will provide an automatic calculation of the appropriate grant entitlement, following which they aim to process the claim and make payment to a claimants designated bank account, within six days from date of application.

As part of the claim process, you will need to open an online Government Gateway account, (if you do not already have one). Our previous email communication(s) provided useful guidance on how to open a Government Gateway account, together with setting out further details on the SEISS. Please visit our website, or refer to the link (www.turpinba.co.uk/blog) for ease of reference.

Unfortunately, as your agents we are not permitted to make a grant application on your behalf, however should you require any further help and/or assistance in regards to the above, please do not hesitate to contact us.
