Being a Responsible Individual (RI) is a bit like walking a tightrope.On one side, there’s the commercial reality - deadlines, client expectations, and team pressures.
On the other, there’s the professional obligation to maintain quality, independence, and scepticism.
The challenge is balancing those forces without losing sight of our duty to the public interest. Each file review, each audit opinion, and each signature carries real responsibility not just to the client, but to everyone who relies on the accounts.
It’s a role that constantly tests your judgement, but also keeps you grounded in what the profession is really about: integrity.
If you’re an RI (or on the path to becoming one), remember calm, clarity, and consistency go a long way.
